Porsche reliability: common Porsche repairs

The MotorEasy Reliability Index measures the dependability of a car, as an average of the frequency and cost of repairs for over 1,200 models. It reveals some of the hidden costs of ownership, as well as the likelihood of something going wrong.

Each model is given a reliability score ranging from -100 (red), for a high frequency and/or high cost of repair, through to +100 (green), where there is a low frequency and cost of repair.

The index also includes model-specific data on:

  • The typical repairs needed for each model, including the percentage of claims for engine, gearbox, electrical system, suspension, braking system and fuel system repairs
  • Common repairs you would be covered for with a Porsche warranty
  • The average cost for each of the above types of repairs

Porsche Warranty FAQs

How long is a Porsche warranty?

A new car warranty lasts for 3 years and has no mileage limit. A Porsche extended warranty lasts for 12, 24 or 36 months and you can only take out cover if your car is less than 15 years old by the time the policy finishes.

How much is a Porsche extended warranty?

Depending on which Porsche you have, how long you want the cover, and whether you’re extending a pre-existing warranty or taking out a new warranty, the prices range from:

Make1 year warranty coverUp to 3 years warranty cover
Boxster or Cayman£660£1,860
Macan£800£2,249
Cayenne£940£2,620
911£1,020£2,830
Panamera or Taycan£1,060£2,940

A MotorEasy extended Porsche warranty is no more expensive and usually much cheaper.

You also get a free health check included, after which, your wear & tear cover can start immediately. Some Porsche centres will charge you for the health check, and still not cover you for tear & tear.

NB - A Porsche extended standalone warranty (not renewing an existing policy) takes 90 days of vehicle ownership before cover can be acquired.

All things considered, that means a MotorEasy warranty compared to a Porsche extended warranty is:

  • Less expensive
  • Can start immediately
  • Includes a free vehicle health check
  • Offers more cover, notably for wear and tear
  • Allows work to be carried out in more convenient (to you) locations

To find out how you can get immediate cover, for less money for your Porsche, just pop a few details into our extended warranty quote journey.

Does Porsche have an extended warranty?

A Porsche extended warranty is an extension to your 3 year new car warranty that comes as standard with any new Porsche purchased in the UK.

There is one level of cover, which Porsche says is equivalent to the new car warranty.
NB - they will not cover wear & tear on your Porsche.

Also, if you’re not extending an existing warranty (maybe you bought it privately) then you must have owned the car for 90 days before you can take out warranty cover, with Porsche. If you’ve just bought your Porsche, and DON’T want to wait nearly 3 months to get cover for it. You can get a MotorEasy extended Porsche warranty.

What does a Porsche warranty cover?

A Porsche warranty direct from Porsche covers: “the cost of repair or replacement of
your vehicle’s systems and components at an official Porsche Centre if they are found to have a manufacturing defect.”

NB - Porsche will not pay for the costs of consequential failure of a covered component.

In fact, as well as the lack of wear & tear cover, there are several other things to be aware of before buying a Porsche extended warranty.
Some things NOT covered include:

  • towing costs
  • accommodation costs
  • car rental costs
  • compensation for loss of use
  • delay in obtaining repair components

All of these claims are subject to the maximum claims limit and the terms and conditions of the specific policy.

What does a MotorEasy Porsche warranty cover?

Simply put - all the same things as a Porsche extended warranty but with the addition of:

  • Wear & tear cover - not standard with any Porsche extended warranty
  • Overheating failures
  • Air conditioning issues

What is a Porsche Approved warranty?

A Porsche Approved warranty is the name Porsche gives to their extended warranty cover once your car is over 3-years old. Porsche will cover any car up to its 15th year, and with an unlimited mileage allowance.

Does a used Porsche come with a warranty?

If you bought your used Porsche from a Porsche main dealer you’ll have received a minimum 2-year warranty.
If your car wasn’t from a Porsche main dealer, or, if you just want to save money while getting more cover, noticeably for wear & tear.

We can of course provide you with MotorEasy extended Porsche warranty cover as long as your car has fewer than 120,000 miles on the clock.
